Her work is meant to imbue a refuge, a shelter from the harsher, pressurized side of our modern existence, and a return to a time when culture dominated everyday life. A reverence for history is a crucial component of her work, but Laura has also been greatly influenced by her life in New York City. In design, one must continuously look to the future and New York is the most forward-thinking city in the world with an uncanny ability to reinvent itself. She is constantly stimulated by the influences of the diverse cultures that make up the city; from street vendors to the private clubs that represent the inner sanctums of Old New York.
